Dan Protherough crowned Advertiser Sports Personality of the Year 2007

Our 1st team coach Dan Protherough has won the Bromsgrove and Droitwich Advertiser's online poll to decide their sports personality of the year!
Well done to Dan, to everyone from the club who voted, and to the 1st team squad who continue to set high standards for themselves.

I would like to extend my very best wishes to all the officials, players, members, staff and supporters of Droitwich RFC.
There is no doubt that 2007 has seen the club move on in leaps and bounds. At all levels and through all age groups we are hugely, and rightly, respected in the rugby and the local communities. Because of all of your achievements both on and off the pitch we can all feel rightly proud of our association with the club.
Congratulations to everyone. I wish you, your families, and our friends who keep in contact with events via the website a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Droitwich under 15's versus Ledbury

This Sunday saw Droitwich play hosts to Ledbury under 15’s. The match was between two very evenly matched sides, battling not only each other but the cold and frosty Sunday morning.
Ledbury took the initiative with a try in the first 10 minutes. This spurred Droitwich into life, responding with two first half tries from James Phipps and Jack Knight with Sam Cave completing one conversion.
The second half started much the same way with each team battling for position and points, Ledbury broke the deadlock with a try, then Droitwich pressed for a response and were rewarded with a try of their own from Anton Preece in the last few minutes of the game.

Droitwich somehow managed to maintain their interest in the EDF Senior vase on Saturday despite an appalling first half display.

This hastily arranged fixture saw Droitwich visiting Bridgnorth. The game was not only about two sides against each other but who could master the elements and a less than forgiving pitch where the overnight rain and the blustery cross wind challenged the resolve of both teams.

Tries by Craig Mortlemans, Steve Poke and Sean Walker were enough to give Droitwich a well earned victory at Stourbridge on Saturday. The win sees them consolidate their 2nd place position in the league.
