Droitwich U15's 5 - Worcester U15's 17

Sunday, November 25, 2007

This was an eagerly awaited test for Droitwich against a Worcester side at the top of their game.

After some evenly matched early exchanges Worcester took a breakaway opportunity to score the first try of the game.

After the restart Droitwich continued to press, playing most of the first half at Worcester’s end of the pitch where the Droitwich forwards took control of the line out and scrimmaging, with the backs continuing to press with some aggressive running and excellent ball handling, only to again be caught with a well created breakaway from Worcester who scored their second try of the game.

The second half continued much the same as the first with Droitwich pressing Worcester’s defensive capabilities and Worcester pressing through breakaways, scoring their third try of the game which was converted.

Droitwich refused to allow their heads to drop and continued to press Worcester back to their try line, breaking through twice, only to be brought back on each occasion for a 5 metre scrum, but undeterred Droitwich pressed again and in the last seconds of the game Adam Sutterby crashed over the line to score a well deserved try for Droitwich.

Final Score Droitwich 5 - Worcester 17.

Coach’s Comments: Special mentions and a welcome back must go to Sam O’Brian, captain of the team after three weeks absence with injury, Vince “Crazy Horse” for another action packed performance, and the new members of the Droitwich squad Seb, John and Sam R who all played a part in a very good game of rugby.

Man of the Match was Jack Knight.
