Droitwich U17's 31 - Bridgnorth U17's 18
Sunday, November 25, 2007
Droitwich RFC U17's had to dig to beat a strong Bridgnorth side, although not one of the home side's best performances they were tested throughout.
Will Baillon opened the scoring for Droitwich very early on, only to see Bridgnorth strike back and regain the lead. Chris Rouse then restored home advantage from a quickly taken penalty, crossing the line in the corner.
Droitwich's third try was the best of the day after some superb phase play released Baillon for his second of the day.
At the break Droitwich led 19 - 13.
The second half saw Jack Pomroy break through Bridgnorth's defence and sprint three quarters of the pitch and side-step a number of Bridgnorth tackles to cross the line.
Bridgnorth then struck back to reduce the deficit, before Harry Baillie edged the scoreline up even further for Droitwich by crashing over.
Bobby Scott-Walker converted 3 out of 5 kicks, slotting 2 from difficult angles, while Daniel Garner, Ben McCumsky and Luke Blizzard all had good games. Man of the match was awarded to Will Baillon.
