Droitwich U15's 0 -Shrewsbury U15's 0
Sunday, November 4, 2007
Droitwich travelled to Shrewsbury for their North Midlands cup match. It was a pulsating match where two evenly matched sides battled it out like two groups of gladiators where every inch of ground was given up grudgingly and no quarter was asked for or given.
Shrewsbury’s pack pushed and shoved the Droitwich pack but they resolutely defended and gave as much as they received. The backs, not to be outdone by the forwards, constantly charged into each other, not allowing any time for either team to organise an effective attack.
In the final minutes of this deadlocked game, Shrewsbury were entrenched on the Droitwich try line, but some outstanding defensive work and easy penalties allowed Droitwich to repeatedly clear their lines until the final whistle. With the final result at Droitwich 0 and Shrewsbury 0 the game was awarded to Droitwich on the away team rule.
A very hoarse coach’s comment: “This was by far the best performance of the year so far, well done to all who took part.”
Man of the match was Nathan Turner.
