Droitwich U15's 29 - Old Patesians U15's 27

Sunday, October 7, 2007

Due to a bye into the next round of the North Mids Cup, Droitwich under 15s were given the opportunity to test their early season form against a new opponent in Old Patesians.

The game was contested by two very evenly matched teams with tests of strength, handling and organisation all over the field of play.

Old Pats took first blood running in two quick tries and conversions with Droitwich responding with two tries of their own by Sam O’Brian and Luke Tupping. Old Pats scored a third try, but missed the conversion just before the half time.

The second half saw Droitwich taking advantage with their set plays and aggressive forward line, pushing Old Pats forwards back into their own half and turning the pressure into three more tries, two from Alex Knudsen and another from Sam O’Brian with two conversions from Sam Cave.

Old Pats responded with a drop goal and a try but missed the conversion, tightening the contest to a two point game in Droitwich’s favour. The closeness of the score led to some outstanding final minutes of play with Droitwich aggressively pushing Old Pats back out of kicking range and pressing to add to their own score as Old Pats pressed to score as well. Finally with the ball going dead the game ended a very even contest between two well matched teams.

Special mention should go to, Luke Tupping and Vince M “Crazy Horse” for outstanding contributions to the team. Man of the Match was awarded to Josh Sutterby. Final Score Droitwich 29 - Old Patesians 27.
