Under 16's Holland Tour Report

Droitwich RFC U16's prepared for their North Mids. Final next week by touring Holland this week and recorded two excellent wins against strong opposition.

The first game saw them take on a strong and spirited side at R.C. Nieuwegin. The second was against the Dutch national champions Castricum. Castricum are aiming at their fourth national title this weekend; are unbeaten for 3 years; and boast a number of international players for this age group in their team.

R.C. Nieuwegin 0 - Droitwich RFC U16's 64

Nieuwegin posed a lot of problems for Droitwich during this game, threatening their line on a couple of occasions. Droitwich's defence proved very strong.

Droitwich attacked at every opportunity and were rewarded for their strong running and handling skills.

Tries by Luke Harris, Chris Rouse (3), Danny Garner, Tom Stedman, Harry Baille, Matt Thorneycroft, Jack O'Hara and Max Fitter. Bobby Scott Walker converted seven of his kicks.

R. C. Castricum 0 - Droitwich RFC U16's 29

On paper this was always going to be a tough game, with Castricum unbeaten for so long, but huge powerful tackling and Droitwich's determination saw them through against a very strong side.

Castricum had no answer to the touring side's game plan and it was only excellent defending that saved them from a bigger score line, with a number of try saving tackles inches from the line.

This game was a superb game to watch with both sides giving everything, with Castricum taken by surprise by Droitwich's strength in depth.

Tries by Bobby Scott- Walker, Max Fitter, Luke Harris and Jack Pomroy.

Scott-Walker also scored a penalty and converted 3 of his conversions.
