Droitwich U16's 36 - Wolverhampton 5
Sunday, October 29, 2006
Droitwich U16's came back from a try down to continue their impressive run against a tough opponent. Droitwich started strongly pinning the opposition in their own half for the first 15 minutes, only to concede a sloppy unconverted break away try. This acted as a wake up call to the home side, with Max Fitter striking back straight from the restart. The conversion gave Droitwich a narrow lead.
Chris Rouse added another try later in the game to extend their lead after exploding through the Wolverhampton defence. This proved the turning point and Droitwich's confidence grew, resulting in tries for David Edwards and Shaun Hooper who both took their chances superbly after some good team work.
With four of the forwards on the scoresheet it was time for the backs to get in on the act with Jack Pomroy breaking a number of tackles to sprint home. Charles Jackson finished the scoring after receiving a long cross field kick and he ran in virtually unopposed.
Good performances by Will Baillon, Chris Reece and Danny Garner ensured Droitwich a hard but well earned victory.
Bobby Scott-Walker kicked three out of six conversions.
