Malvern RFC U15's 7 - Droitwich RFC U15's 50

Sunday, March 19, 2006

Despite the scoreline Droitwich found it hard to breakdown a determined Malvern side, making hard work for themselves in the first half. The Spa side had the majority of the possession throughout and despite being camped inside their opponent's 22 for large periods of the game, found it hard to convert possession into points. The opening score came from Will Baillon who touched down in the corner. Malvern replied quickly and briefly took the lead with the conversion and held onto it until just before half time when Jack Pomroy side stepped his way through numerous tackles to score close to the posts. Droitwich lead 12 - 7 at half time.

The second half saw Droitwich make mass changes and it wasn't long before the tries started to flow as Malvern began to tire. Calum Kinghorn scored after superb work by Chris Reece around the scrum, sucking in the Malvern defence, to release Kinghorn into space. Matt Cook then extended the lead after sprinting clear through the Malvern defence. Tom Milwood then powered over to make up for Droitwich's slow start.

Luke Harris then added two quick tries with his pace causing major problems for the home side, while Barry Francis on the other wing helped stretch Malvern's defensive line to breaking point. The final try came from Charles Jackson who secured an impressive win, although not that easy, given Malvern's determination from start to finish. Bobby Scott-Walker converted 5 of his attempts and lost a number of balls, as they sailed into the nearby industrial estate.

Others that contributed to the game were Dan Wilkinson, Sean Storey, Tom Barker and Jacob Phillips who all played their part in this game.
