Sunday, February 26, 2006

Droitwich U15's continued to improve ahead of their North Mids. semi-final clash with Moseley next week.

Playing a strong Wolverhampton side Droitwich came under early pressure playing into a stiff breeze, Wolverhampton turned that pressure into points taking an early 5 - 0 lead which was further increased half way through the half to give the visitors a 12 - 0 lead at half time. A determined Droitwich defence managed to keep Wolverhampton's scoring opportunities down to a minimum.

The second half saw Droitwich use the wind to good effect with the home side keeping the majority of possession throughout, with Wolverhampton very rarely making it into the Droitwich half. The breakthrough came when Bobby Scott-Walker slotted home a penalty kick from 30 metres out, this was then quickly followed with a try from Barry Francis, with the Droitwich backs moving the ball down the line well, allowing the winger to dive over. Scott Walkers conversion brought the score back to 10-12 with 15 minutes to go.

Droitwich's second came through Will Baillon who slid in the corner to give Droitwich the narrowest of leads, a determined Wolverhampton defence managed to keep Droitwich's constant attack at bay for the rest of the game, despite numerous attacks.
