Old Yardleians RFC U15's 0 - Droitwich RFC U15's 44
Sunday, February 19, 2006
Droitwich U15's recorded a good result against a spirited Old Yards side. Hard work from the Droitwich pack gave the Spa side a strong platform to build on, while the Droitwich backs found themselves with plenty of space to exploit.
The opening try came from Adam Gwilliam who squeezed through a gap left in the Old Yards defence, with Matt Thorneycoft adding another minutes later sliding in after a blistering run, which was equalled by Matt Cook moments later for Droitwich's third.
The fourth came from Tom Fogarty who touched down after some good forward work, while two conversions from Calum Kinghorn and Gwilliam gave Droitwich a 24 - 0 lead at half time.
The second half saw Droitwich make numerous changes and it wasn't long before Shaun Hooper touched down to extend their lead, with top scorer Jack Pomroy then grabbing another after leaving the Old Yards defence standing. Luke Harris then put his name on the score sheet after some excellent support play, while the final try came from Richard Phillips scoring his first of the season after he powered over.
Tom Milward earned himself man of the match. Dan Wilkinson went close to scoring on three occasions and was unlucky each time to hear the whistle blow as he crashed over the line. David Edwards and Shaun Hooper worked tirelessly at the front winning plenty of possession.
A special mention must also go to Charles Jackson and Sam Davenport who showed good sportsmanship throughout.
