Monday, October 17, 2005

Droitwich U15's continued their impressive start to the season to keep their 100% record going. Being drawn against a good Moseley side in the Prelim round of the North Midland Cup was always going to be a difficult game, but Droitwich were undaunted by their big name rivals and relished the prospect of this thrilling match.

Both sides matched each other throughout with both putting up good defensive displays, with some big tackles going in all around the pitch. Droitwich siezed upon early Moseley mistakes and led them 6 - 0 at half time.

Charles Jackson was superb at full back, being called upon a couple of times as last man to stop Moseley's attack. M.o.m Shaun Hooper led from the front tackling anything that moved, giving the whole team something to build on, while Luke Harris put the Moseley full back under a lot of pressure throughout the game.

The second half saw Moseley grow in frustration as Droitwich stretched their lead to 9 - 0, but a try ground out by the Moseley forwards half way through the second half from a penalty 5 metres out gave the away side hope.

Droitwich stuck to their game plan with the whole team sticking to their task and defending as a unit.

Brilliant kicking from Bobbie Scott-Walker saw Droitwich through to the next round, Scott-Walker scored all of Droitwich's nine points, as well as continually driving Moseley back with his tactical kicking.

Droitwich U15's will now meet Luctonians or Bourneville away in the next round.

Droitwich U14's also progressed to the next round after a convincing win over Bourneville. Droitwich U14's now face an exciting home fixture against Worcester or Hereford in the next round.
