Tuesday, September 20, 2005
The opening game of the season saw Droitwich U15's put in a strong performance to overcome a determined Old Hales side. The opening try came from Matt Thorneycroft, making his debut for the club. Luke Harris grabbed the second, while Calum Kinghorn added the third. Harry Baille powered over the line before half time to give Droitwich a comfortable lead.
Droitwich led 28-0 at half time.
The second half saw Old Hales tighten their defence and hold Droitwich for the first 15 minutes until Jack Pomroy latched onto a pass, following some good handling from the backs, to show a clean pair of heels tand score under the posts. Captain Tom Stedman completed a good morning's work by adding his name to the score sheet.
Superb kicking from Bobbie Scott-Walker saw him convert all 6 attempts, with 3 of those from the touchline. Droitwich awarded their m.o.m jointly to Pomroy and Scott-Walker.
Old Hales' try came at the end of the game and was thoroughly deserved as they went down fighting.
