Worcester U14 19 - Droitwich U14 12

Sunday, February 20, 2005

This was an entertaining game from start to finish. In blustery conditions it was always going to be tough playing into the wind. Droitwich started strongly putting Worcester under constant pressure, keeping them penned into their own half for most of it. Droitwich's hard work was rewarded when Shaun Hooper scored in the corner. Droitwich then piled on more pressure which resulted in Calum Kinghorn extending their lead. With Bobby Scott-Walker's conversion Droitwich led 12 - 0 at half time.

The second half saw both sides make changes and with the wind in their faces, it was Droitwich's turn to soak up the pressure. Big tackles were flying in all around the pitch as Droitwich tried to hold onto the lead, Worcester took their few chances well and levelled the score with about 10 minutes to go. They then took the lead for the first time in the game when they broke a tackle on the left to score.

Droitwich then dug deep and came back at Worcester strongly, putting Worcester under a lot of pressure inside their own 22. Credit must go to all the players for such a good performance. Bobby Scott Walker was Droitwich's man of the match.
