Bath U16's - Droitwich Black U16's
Sunday, January 23, 2005
The game was hastily arranged after Saracens cancelled the sheduled fixture. Also on arrival the designated pitch was unplayable due to severe snow and the game was transferred to a local team pitch where conditions were playable.
From the kick-off Droitwich started brightly and within 5 minutes had scored the opening try. A further two tries were scored and one converted before Bath opened their account leaving the half-time score at 17-5.
The second period was very scrappy due to many player changes and strange refereeing decisons as Droitwich scored a further three tries with only one being allowed. Bath scored a late consolation try, leaving the final score 22-10.
The Droitwich try scorers were David Pitt, Mo Yafai, Andy Green and Jamie Samways. James Owen actually crossed the line on three occasions but the referee disallowed all three. Bad luck James. The conversion was scored by Ian Young.
Even though the final scoreline looked close, this result was never in doubt.
