Droitwich RFC under 9's also played host to Camp Hill. Right from the start
it was obvious that Camp Hill were a very well drilled side with two or
three very strong runners making their mark with three tries in the
first half.

The game was hastily arranged after Saracens cancelled the sheduled fixture. Also on arrival the designated pitch was unplayable due to severe snow and the game was transferred to a local team pitch where conditions were playable.

The 1st XV have competed against all odds this season, but refuse to yield and accept relegation as an inevitability. There is a recognition that over the next months some serious competition will be encountered from the likes of Pershore, Hereford, and Bromsgrove in the cup. This Saturday the lads have another tough encounter with Bedworth at home.

In muddy conditions Old Hales opened up an early 14 point lead through poor defending making good use of home advantage. Droitwich then dug deep and tightened things up and were rewarded when Matt Cook crossed the line with a determined run. Calum Kinghorn then brought Droitwich back into the game to add another. At half-time Old Hales led 14 - 12.

Droitwich battled well with a ‘thrown together’ team against the reigning Merit Table Champions. Every player deserves praise for their performance, but a special mention goes to Jonno Watkins for playing out of position with a hernia injury, Rab Walker who was dragged from the bar at 2 o’clock, and youngster Rob Burton who bravely stepped up from 3rd team flanker to 2nd team hooker.
