Droitwich draw Bromsgrove in the Cup

Droitwich have been given a plum home draw against local rivals Bromsgrove in the North Midlands Cup Quarter Finals. The tie has been scheduled for Saturday, 12th February, but with this being an international weekend the two clubs will liaise to re-arrange the fixture to the Friday night (11th) or the Sunday afternoon (13th).

This match was brought to an abrupt end when the game had to be abandoned. The referee suffered concussion when he was struck on the side of the head by a ball kicked by Droitwich scrum half Craig Burgess.

After this performance no one should underestimate Droitwich's resolve when it comes to a dogfight. The team as a whole did not take one step backwards under the positive leadership of Nick Godfrey. Playing uphill in the first half on a strength sapping pitch the backs and forwards put in some solid hits which rocked Shipston, a team also seeking to pull away from the bottom of the table.

A good team performance, with Droitwich working hard from the start. The opening try came through Calum Kinghorn who powered over in the opening minutes after some good work by the Droitwich forwards. Kinghorn then added his second to give the away side a good early lead.

Droitwich under 16 players have chance to make Midlands squad

It was announced on Tuesday, 30th November that Mike Penn (fullback) and Ted Lang (centre), of the Droitwich RFC under 16 team, have been selected to play in the final trial for a place in the Midlands' Under 16 squad.
