Matt Blackmore unveiled as new 1st XV captain
Wednesday, July 7, 2004
Matt Blackmore has realised his dream of becoming Droitwich Spa RFC First XV captain.
Fly half Blackmore, top points scorer in Midlands Three West (South) last season, takes over from Nick Irwin who is returning to his native New Zealand after two years with the team.
Director of Rugby Julian Bailey is sure he will do a good job.
He said: “He's wanted to be captain for years. He's always putting his name forward, he's really keen to do it and I have got all the confidence that he will lead from the front. I am sure he will be a good asset for us.”
Nick Godfrey will be vice-captain.
