Droitwich to host Cullompton in the last 16 of the EDF Senior Vase

Thursday 17th January 2008

Droitwich RFC have been drawn against Devon club Cullompton in round six of the EDF Senior Vase. We will play host to the Cornwall and Devon league side on Saturday, 2nd February. Kick-off at 2.15pm.

Droitwich might have expected to have found themselves in the Midlands/ North pot for the sixth round draw but odd numbers saw us placed in the London/ South West draw.

Our opponents are unbeaten in the Tribute Cornwall and Devon league since 10th November. They currently lie third in their league with a game in hand. Win that game in hand and they would be top of their league on points difference. Not bad for a newly promoted club! That kind of form mirrors Droitwich’s recent success so we can expect a very tough encounter.

Home advantage could prove crucial, particularly as Cullompton face a 125 mile journey up the M5 before the match. Location on Google Maps. There is some evidence that Cullompton don’t travel well—they have won 3, drawn 2, and lost 2 away from home in the league this season. In contrast, at their well appointed ground, they have won all 5 of their home league fixtures.
