Droitwich started the New Year by welcoming Luctonians to their ground for what turned out to be a very entertaining contest.

Droitwich started the match determined to build on the form and commitment shown since the start of the 2007 season, pressurising Luctonians back into a defensive position for most of the first half, which looked to be heading to a scoreless conclusion until Josh Sutterby charged through to score under the posts, with Oliver Swift’s conversion giving a half time score of seven nil to Droitwich.

The second half continued the same way as the first with Droitwich forwards probing the Luctonians defensive lines creating space for the backs to exploit. As the game continued, errors allowed Droitwich to extend their lead with two well taken penalties by Oliver Swift.

Finally, Sam O’Brian finished off a period of forwards pressure by crashing over for Droitwich’s second try of the game which Oliver Swift converted.

Final Score: Droitwich 20 - Luctonians 0.
