Droitwich U15’s 10 - Malvern U15’s 18

Sunday 11th November 2007

Droitwich under 15’s played hosts to Malvern. Droitwich put in a lacklustre display after last week’s heroics, conceding ground and penalties through some ill-disciplined play allowing Malvern to move the ball down the field and take the advantage with an early penalty.

Through the first half Droitwich continued to struggle to put any continuity into their game, only showing small flashes of their true capabilities. A lack of concentration allowed Malvern to increase their lead late in the first half with the first try of the game, which was successfully converted, giving Malvern a ten to nothing lead at half-time.

The second half saw Droitwich rally with Adam Sutterby and Jack Rowley (on his début) both scoring tries, but without conversion. Droitwich then pressed for another score but again the errors in the first half came back at crucial times with lack of discipline and support by either the backs or forwards to undermine some individual performances, allowing Malvern to defend and clear their lines.

Malvern continued to take advantage of Droitwich’s poor performance to score another try and closed the game with a penalty in the final seconds. The final score was Droitwich 10 - Malvern 18.
Coaches comments: Overall this was not one of Droitwich’s best team performances, but some individuals warrant special mention; Anton Preece, Josh Sutterby and Connor O’Donnell. Man of the Match for Droitwich was Luke Topping.
