Droitwich U15 20 - Evesham U15 5

Sunday, 28th November, 2004

In very wet conditions both teams played some good rugby. The Droitwich pack adapted to the conditions well and started to win good possession.

The wet conditions made handling difficult, but good work from the Droitwich forwards saw Shaun Hooper power over the line to open the scoring. This was soon added to when Tim Cave doubled Droitwich’s lead.

The second half saw Droitwich turn up the heat with a big percentage of the game being played in the Evesham half. Chris Reece and Max Fitter added 2 more mid-way through, to see Droitwich take a good lead into the closing stages. Harry Baille also went close with the ball being judged to have been held up as he crossed the line.

The Droitwich backs put in some powerful running throughout the game, punching holes into the Evesham defence and allowing the Droitwich forwards to plough through the gaps with some good support play. Luke Harris, Matt Cook and Jack Pomroy all had good games.

Evesham’s try came in the last few seconds of the game with a break-away try down their right wing.
