Droitwich Gold U16 38 - Longlevens U16 10

Sunday, 31st October, 2004

After 3 weeks on the road the Gold Under 16 squad entertained Longlevens of Gloucester.

Longlevens had enjoyed an excellent start to their season, being undefeated to date with the notable scalps of Worcester and Old Richians Rugby Clubs. Understandably, they arrived at Droitwich with great expectation.

From the kick-off Droitwich demonstrated massive resolve and intensity in the forward pack, winning all the physical confrontations, enabling the backs good possession and they duly ran in 3 first-half tries. 2 of those tries were converted. The visitors scored a converted try.

The second period followed much the same path, with the visitors only having one sustained spell of pressure resulting in them reducing the lead to 19-10, then a further 3 tries with 2 being converted and several missed opportunities leaving the Gold side with an excellent victory.

It is very pleasing to see the advancement of the players beginning to pay dividends.
