Droitwich U14 59 - Longlevens U14 20

Sunday 31st October 2004

Droitwich got off to a flier with George Walker opening the scoring in the first few minutes. Their lead was increased later when Max Fitter crossed the line, following a determined run.

Longlevens then came straight back at Droitwich putting them under a lot of pressure and were rewarded with their first try and an evenly matched game looked in prospect.

Droitwich’s backs then started to dominate the game. Showing good handling skills, they broke down a resolute Longlevens defence by passing the ball superbly down the line. George Walker quickly added two more and Chris Wade added another two using good pace to take Droitwich into a commanding lead.

With so many tries being run in Droitwich neglected their defensive duties a little allowing Longlevens to come back at them slightly, before moving up a gear, which saw Harry Baille and Matt Cook add two more tries to restore Droitwich’s commanding lead. Tim Cave added the final try at the end, intercepting a pass to sprint clear to score under the posts.

Droitwich’s ‘Man of the Match’ went to Jacob Phillips who delivered good ball throughout the game at scrum half, giving the backs time and space. Charlie Fry and Jack Westwood also had good games with Westwood putting in some crunching try-saving tackles.

Harry Baille converted 3 out of 5 kicks, Tom Milwood 1 from 1, Callum Kinghorn 3 from 3 to round off a good team performance.
