Welcome to the Droitwich RFC Under 11's!
Having played two seasons of 9 a side ‘contact rugby’ this season will be very different!! We move up to 12 a side matches, a much bigger pitch and kicking (out of hand) during a game which will all bring significant challenges to coaches and players alike.
Fitness will be absolutely vital this season – I can’t stress that enough!! We are going to need to get up and down the pitch quickly – we can’t afford to only have a few players back behind the ball.
The 12 a side game will also bring far more positional responsibility. There is nowhere to hide on a bigger pitch – every player in every position will have a role to fulfill do for the team. Players won’t be able to do two jobs and they will need to rely more on each team mate doing theirs.
For this reason there will probably be less ‘swapping’ of positions this season – players will need to learn the requirements of a couple of positions maximum and work hard on the skills required for those positions.
We are always on the look out for new players, of all standards, shapes and sizes, who would like to learn and play their rugby in an enjoyable and supportive environment. Our coaching team enjoy working with all players and are dedicated to helping each of them develop as players and individuals.
